Anchor & Hope is housed in a renovated turn of the century mechanic's warehouse located at 83 Minna Street (just off 2nd Street).......a little East Coast formal (a GM in a suit and a chef who likes her vegetables brunoised) and West Coast casual (painted plywood floors, hawsers strung from the ceiling and diners in jeans) and you've got Anchor & Hope's cross-country take on a seafood shack. The third SoMa project from Doug Washington, Steven and Mitchell Rosenthal of Town Hall and Salt House.
The Chef of Anchor & Hope is Boston-raised Sarah Schafer, whose food is by no means shack-esque. Yes, there's fried calamari, but it comes with basil and a Thai dipping sauce; the velvety New England Clam Chowder; plateaus overflowing with oysters, lobster, crab claws & clams; a pot pie of lobster has butternut squash
and a très français brandy reduction........the chocolate triple-layer cake
is our nod to middle America.
Join us in a suit or jeans. Have 4 courses or just Champagne & oysters.
Eat early or eat late. Everything on the wine list is available
by the glass, half glass or bottle.
